Over one-third of gamers now prefer digital downloads.
Buisness group NPD has released research showing that 35% of people who bought a game in the past three months would prefer to buy a digital download over a physical copy. That’s up 10 percentage points from 25% this time last year.
Meanwhile a boss at EA has gone on record to say that the company is aiming to become a “100% digital company”. While not giving an exact timeline, he indicates that it won’t be before consumers are ready, but is likely to be sooner than expected.
