I have maintained a few simple rules, to keep the setting simple: no flash, just daylight from my 3rd floor kitchen window. The “canvas” is an IKEA plastic chopping board, with a few scars of life lived on its surface. No fancy technology or elaborate equipment either. I use a Nokia mobile or Casio 5 or 8 mpx camera. And then just a quick enhancing of the colors, basically, as the treatment. The names given to the images reflect, well, that food can have lives of their own… soul food, if you wish. Stories of what they might be going through. Maybe, even windows to small worlds of their own.
