As long as there have been photos there has been touching up. From airbrushing to cropping, pictures of famous people and events have been altered to make them appear differently than reality. Here’s a look at some of the more famous examples of pre-Photoshop photo editing. One of the most famous pictures of President Abraham Lincoln is as fact-based as the upcoming movie Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Lincoln’s head was placed atop South Carolina politician John Calhoun’s body in this 1860 photo. Interestingly enough, Calhoun died in 1850.
